About the Exhibition

Serenity began with a single question: “Where do I belong within the spectrum of the Pride flag?”

As a Black, gay man—an American in a time when the policies and priorities of my government grow increasingly hostile toward people who look and love like me—this question feels increasingly urgent. My work has always been about seeking calm, balance, and connection in the face of inner turmoil and outer chaos. In this exhibition, I turn to the color Blue as both a meditation and a guide.

Historically, Blue in the Pride flag stands for serenity, peace, and harmony. In the current eleven-color iteration of the flag, it sits as one piece in a broader map of collective identity and shared values. For me, Blue is not a reflection of how I always feel, but an aspiration. A North Star.

Afternoon Tea

To accompany the show, I’ve co-created a limited-edition Afternoon Tea set with Tease—a visual and sensory tribute to serenity, harmony, and peace. Inspired by my work on view at House of Pride. Designed to be shared, this is an invitation to slow down, connect, and celebrate community over bites as thoughtful as they are beautiful. Available daily from June 1 to July 31.
